For my primary research I looked at pre existing stop motion cartoons/movies, as I knew that this would help me with my own animation. The first animation I looked at was the tv show called ‘Mio and Mao’, which is a children’s program that I watched as a kid. This animation was a great way of showing me how good clay stop motion could be, as it is truly incredible how smooth the creatures move throughout. For example instead of walking, they role so the transition of them standing to rolling must be really hard to do.

Another type of amimation I looked at was ‘Morph’, which was also a program I watched when I was younger as it amazed me how you could make these amazing animations out of clay. I think that morph is very good as it was one of the first types of clay animation made. Another good thing about morph is that it was funny so drew people in, which would help me as I don’t want my animation to be boring.

Wallace and Gromit is probably the most well known type of clay animation going as it caters for all ages as it is humorous. The first Wallace and Gromit movie was made in 1989 and toke them 7 years to complete. This is an extremely long time for a 23 minute film. However it was all worth it as they became extremely popular and made a few more after. In my own opinion I think that Wallace and Gromit is a great film as the filming was done so perfectly and you could see how much work was put into it.
